Things aren't getting any easier at Table 38 as two new notables have just joined.
We have Cliff Josephy in the one seat, and PokerStars Team Onliner Javier "El_Cañonero" Domínguez Gómez has taken his seat right next door. Around the other side of the table, the last three seats hold Scott Clements, Vanessa Rousso, and now Humberto Brenes in the nine seat.
Picking up the action on an board with roughly 6,300 in the middle, Jose "Nacho" Barbero was faced with a bet of 2,200 on the river. He thought it over for about 90 seconds before tossing in the chips to call.
His opponent tabled , better than Barbero's holdings, to take down the pot.,
Five players saw a flop of , including Barry Greenstein and Rob Van Schaik. Greenstein led for 300, Van Schaik called, and so did a third player. The turn was the , Greenstein led again - this time for 1,000 - and only Van Schaik called.
The completed the board, and Greenstein fired a third bullet worth 1,500. Van Schaik min-raised to 3,000, and Greenstein immediately called. Van Schaik turned over for trip queens, and Greenstein flashed the before mucking.
If you recognize more than one player at your table today, it's probably one of the tougher tables in the room. We've noticed a couple good pairings as we paced through the near half of the room.
Allen Kessler and Juan Manuel Pastor will be fighting for the role of Table Captain at their table on the far end, and the registration sheet tells us that they'll soon be joined by Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier. 2011 WSOP Main Event champ Pius Heinz has drawn a table with Felipe Ramos.
We also have two particularly tough tables in the center of the room. One includes Ted Lawson, Amit Makhija, and Marcel Luske. The other one is in contention for early Table of Death, and it features Scott "BigRiskky" Clements, Cliff "JohnnyBax" Josephy, and Vanessa "LadyMaverick" Rousso.
There are a plethora of Team PokerStars players scattered around the room, including 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event Champion Pius Heinz, 2010 Champion Jonathan Duhamel, and 2009 Champion Joe Cada. We can't forget about Alexander Kravchenko, Marcel Luske, Dario Minieri, Nacho Barbero, Jason Mercier, Lex Veldhuis, Vanessa Selbst, and Boris Becker.
T.D. Mike Ward has run through the quick version of the announcements, and the dealers have been called into action. There are about 500 players registered for this Day 1b so far, and the cards are in the air!
Welcome to Day 1b of the 2012 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event. Yesterday's starting flight of Day 1a drew 418 players and we expect more to hit the felt today to take their shot at PCA glory. Alexey Repik enjoyed the most success on Day 1a and bagged up 220,100.
Last year's champion, Galen Hall, will be among the masses today and he'll be joined by a plethora of Team PokerStars Pros. Among them are Super High Roller Champion Viktor Blom, Jason Mercier, Liv Boeree, Vanessa Selbst, and many others.
Nine levels will be played today, with a dinner break coming after the sixth level. Each level is 60 minutes and there will be a 15-minute break after every two levels.
Play will start in about 15 minutes from now as the players are entering the Imperial Ballroom here in Atlantis and taking their seats. Keep it here at PokerNews throughout the day for updates on all of the exciting action as it takes place.
